The BEST Homemade Brownies
These brownies are rich, fudgy, ultra chocolatey and SO easy to make. 10 minutes of prep and let the oven do the rest. Simple.
- 1 lb unsalted butter, soft
- 4 cups sugar
- 8 eggs
- 2 tsps vanilla
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/4 tsps salt
Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
In a mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, cream together butter and sugar.
Add eggs one at a time. Scrape down sides of bowl to ensure all butter is incorporated.
Add sifted ingredients in two stages. (When adding in the dries be sure to scrape down sides and bottom of bowl inbetween) Mix until all dries are incorporated. Do not over mix!
Line one 1/2 sheet pan or two 8" rounds with parchment paper. Pour batter into desired baking dish and spread evenly. (This is a thick batter so you will need to smooth it out. I like to use an offset spatula.)
Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. (Keep in mind depending on what you bake in, the baking times will very. See notes below.)
Cool completely before cutting.
Baking times vary depending which item you choose to bake in. If you choose to use two 8" rounds your brownies will bake in the directed 45-50 minute range. These will be quite thick brownies. If you choose to bake in a 1/2 sheet pan I would check on them after 25 minutes. These brownies are more of the average size thickness you would get out of a box brownie.
