Oliver’s 1st Birthday

Happy Birthday Oliver! I can’t believe how crazy fast the first year went. It’s kind of insane. I feel like everyday he is learning something new. He’s so smart, so smiley and so beyond sweet. I can’t even begin to explain how amazing it has been watching him grow, watching him laugh and watching him learn to scoot, crawl and walk. One of my favorite parts of watching my baby boy morph into a toddler is watching those tiny little wheels turning in his head. Watching him figure out how to open a door, how to walk from one side of the room to the other, exploring and testing his boundaries, and pointing to people by name. It is truly incredible. My little tiny human isn’t so tiny anymore. And while a big piece of me is sad, the other piece of me is so beyond excited to watch him grow into a handsome little boy. He stole my heart on day one and continues to do so everyday. Oliver has truly turned ordinary into extraordinary.

Okay, enough of the mushy gush. Let’s get to the fun party stuff. My baby has turned ONE! Well four months ago..but due to the pandemic we were just able to have his birthday party this past weekend. Yay! I mean, of course we celebrated as best we could on his actual birthday, but I was bound and determined to have a “bigger” celebration and not just cancel it all together. I know he won’t remember it and I’m probably a little crazy, but I wanted to do something extra special for my little man. I mean come on, he survived an ENTIRE year with me. Plus, it was a win win for him. He got double the cake AND double the presents. Lucky little ducky.

Here’s a look into the birthday celebration. I think you can tell what his favorite thing is 😛

I tried to save some coins and do this whole party DIY style so I made both the picture banner above the duck pools and the “ONE” banner on his highchair. Most of the supplies you see in the photos are from Micheals, Dollar tree, and party city. I also baked the cake, cupcakes and Rice Krispies.

I think my absolute favorite thing out of all the decorations were these cute little ducky cups. Oliver is still loving and using them a week later. I got these from Oriental Trading along with the giant inflatable duck you see in the last picture.

Although things didn’t go as planned, I think Oliver and all the other kiddos enjoyed it just the same. We had some happy little duckies on our hands <3
