Oliver’s 1st Birthday
Happy Birthday Oliver! I can’t believe how crazy fast the first year went. It’s kind of insane. I feel like everyday he is learning something new. He’s so smart, so smiley and so beyond sweet. I can’t even begin to explain how amazing it has been watching him grow, watching him laugh and watching him learn to scoot, crawl and walk. One of my favorite parts of watching my baby boy morph into a toddler is watching those tiny little wheels turning in his head. Watching him figure out how to open a door, how to walk from one side of the room to the other, exploring and testing his boundaries, and pointing to people by name. It is truly incredible. My little tiny human isn’t so tiny anymore. And while a big piece of me is sad, the other piece of me is so beyond excited to watch him grow into a handsome little boy. He stole my heart on day one and continues to do so everyday. Oliver has truly turned ordinary into extraordinary.
The BEST Homemade Brownies
Happy Friday! How has everyone been holding up during this quarantine? Have you started going back to work? Things are slowly starting to open back up in Madison and people are excepting the new normal here. Businesses were just given the OK to open to the public and let me tell you, people are here for it. Streets have been converted into outside eatery’s, parks are slowly starting to open back up with new safety precautions in place, and bigger venues are able to start hosting smaller weddings. It’s a bit crazy living in this world right now. It’s already mid July and I haven’t gone anywhere on vacation and I’ve hardly seen any of my friends. Like, um, what?
Loaded Sweet Potatoes
Loaded Sweet Potatoes. Happy Friday ya’ll! I feel like the weekends are totally meant for the “treat yo self” mentality. You’re finally free of work (hopefully), you’ve made fun plans to do something, whether thats to see friends, have a night out or to just relax and enjoy life. Unfortunately for us going out and having fun, isn’t an option right now due to the global pandemic. We’ve had to become really creative in what we can do around the house. Puzzles, bingeing Netflix, painting, and of course LOTS of cooking.
The Best Strawberry Shortcakes
Happy Tuesday Ya’ll and a BIG “Happy belated Mother’s Day” to all you mamma’s out there! This was my second Mother’s Day and I felt extremely blessed. Being Oliver’s mamma is probably the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I couldn’t ask for a sweeter, cuter, cuddlier human being in my life. He is honestly so precious. Nothing else screams “Mother’s Day dessert” to me more then strawberry shortcakes. Maybe because it’s spring time and fruit is in season. Maybe it’s because they are so pretty and elegant. Or maybe it’s because it’s one of the only desserts my mom made us as kids that did not come out of a box. (Sorry mom) It’s a real wonder how on earth I ended up as a Pastry Chef.
Bacon, Egg & Cheddar Biscuit Sammie
Bacon, Egg & Cheddar Biscuit Sammy. Good Morning and happy Sunday ya’ll! I don’t know about you guys but I am totally missing going to brunch during this pandemic. Sometimes I truly feel there is nothing better than a Sunday morning brunch. Or a brunch on any day for that matter. Hungover? Brunch. Cute photo op? Brunch. Don’t know what time or day it is? BRUNCH. Is “Brunching” a hobby? Because if it is, it’s probably one of my favorites.
Life Update: QUARANTINED
Happy Friday everyone! What a weird place in time we are in right now. Our whole world is shut down. It’s Spring, 60 degrees out, and everyone is ordered to stay at home until MAY. What!? Currently my situation is a lot like most of the world where my job was deemed “non essential” and I’m currently unemployed. At first I was super upset and didn’t know what on earth I was gonna do with myself. But, it didn’t take me long to find the greater good in things.
A Weekend in Door County: FAll 2019
Guy’s, this trip was the best. If you know me you know I love all things fall. And for us Wisco folks, Door county is the “it” place, come September/October. My birthday being in October I decided I finally wanted to pull the trigger and go. I turned the big “25”, which really means a whole lot of nothing. Well besides copious amounts of overthinking what you haven’t done with your life thus far and you can finally rent a car, wahoo! 😛
Sheet Pan Shortbread
Merry Christmas everyone! We’ve reached the end of 12 Days of Christmas and honestly, I’m a little sad about it. But! With every end there is a new beginning, right? The new year is just around the corner and I have so many good things in store for ya’ll. 2020 is going to be full of recipes, travel, baby/toddler navigating, DIY, and so much more.
Chocolate Espresso Cookies
Merry Christmas Eve! We are on day ELEVEN of 12 days of Christmas! SO crazy that is almost Christmas! Does anybody else get as excited as I do thinking about other people opening the gifts that you got for them? I swear I’m more excited for Oliver and Christian than I am myself. Like, Oliver doesn’t even understand the concept of opening gifts. I’m probably just an insane person. Every Christmas Eve my brother and I, and our significant others, travel down to my mom’s house and have a private little Christmas without the whole entire family there. We somehow made it a tradition to go out for Asian food every Christmas Eve and I’m not mad about it. I don’t know how this even started but what I do know is we all end up eating entirely too much and become wastes of space for a good hour.
Chewy Ginger Cookies
Happy Monday ya’ll! It’s day TEN of 12 Days of Cookies. That means only two days left! As we reach the end I wanted to share one of my favorites with you. Not just my favorite in these 12 days, but one of my favorite cookies I’ve ever eaten. And guys.. I’ve eaten a lot of cookies.
